Crocodilo Criollo, projecto de inspiração afro-peruana, junta às manifestações musicais negra e crioula textos originais de forte pendor interventivo e social. Crocodilo Criollo cruza o ritmo do cajón e da guitarra com o ritmo do texto, das palavras, numa união quase perfeita.
As raízes africanas tiveram um papel crucial no desenvolvimento do Peru e são hoje parte incontornável e reconhecida da sua identidade cultural. Desde os primeiros tempos da escravatura, passando pelos movimentos de emancipação crioulos do séc. XIX até às formas mais informais de descriminação, a sociedade negra peruana deixou bem marcadas as suas lutas e as suas esperanças nas diversas manifestações artísticas, das quais a música afro-peruana é um dos melhores exemplos.

Crocodilo Criollo, an Afro-Peruvian inspired project, combines black and creole musical expressions with original texts with a strong interventionist and social bent. Crocodile Criollo crosses the rhythm of the cajón and the guitar with the rhythm of the text, the words, in an almost perfect union.
African roots played a crucial role in Peru's development and are today an unavoidable and recognized part of its cultural identity. From the early days of slavery, through the Creole emancipation movements of the century. From the 19th century to the most informal forms of discrimination, black Peruvian society left its struggles and its hopes in the various artistic manifestations well-marked, of which Afro-Peruvian music is one of the best examples.
